The various styles of surface and textures we offer plays a pivotal role in the the finished appearance of your hardwood flooring.
No matter your desired appearance, there are plenty of options to bring your natural wood floor’s grain and character from an idea to a realization. Hand-Scraped
We use traditional tools combined with European craftsmanship to make your floor a one of a kind piece of art. Each piece is hand-scraped by one our master craftsman to highlight the wood grain’s stunning attributes.
Hand-scraped wood heavily accents the wood grain allowing for a deep penetration of stain resulting in a rich, silky-smooth wood appearance.
Wire-Brushed
Wire-brushing emphasizes the wood grain and creates pronounced texture and character giving a distinct yet discreet modern appearance.
The rotary brushes pull the soft grain from the growth ring leaving the heartwood exposed to the surface. You can see and touch the warm and welcoming texture.
Smooth Surface
If accented texture does not fit your design décor we also offer smooth-faced planks that are milled and sanded to provide a timeless finish.
Smooth-faced is an excellent option to allow the natural wood grain pattern and color to become the focal points of the floor. Perfect for all appearances from traditional to modern-contemporary designs.
Light Antiqued
Light distressed marks, which would naturally occur after decades of faithful use, enhance the antique appearance. This is a great feature to be added to our hand-scraped floors.
Great for moderate to heavy traffic areas. The distressing obscures small blemishes and imperfections from dropped dishware or other household goods.
Heavy Antiqued
If your design calls for a more rustic appearance to create an intimate atmosphere reminiscent of a time when wood floors were hand-carved than selecting a heavy distressed floor can fit your motif. Resembling the appearance of a 100 year old floor but without the maintenance
Our craftsman will hand carve a one of a kind floor displaying a mastery of European techniques to produce a floor with chain marks, worm hole impressions, and furniture scratches. This stunning feature is recommended for our hand-scraped floors only.
Nano Edge
Our Nano Edge features an extra small eased bevel (0.75 mm) on 2 longs sides of each plank. This creates a continuous long board appearance.
If you are concerned with keeping a floor clean than the shallow crevice prevents dirt and debris from becoming hung-up.
Nano Edge is standard in our Dutch-Haus Collection floors.
Pillowed Edge
These edges are hand-scraped to add a dimension to our handcrafted floors. The edges provides a soft and subtle worn appearance from the face of the board downward to create a gentle pillowed effect.
An excellent option for high-traffic areas. They are easy to keep clean without compromising the pattern apperance.
Pillowed Edge is standard in our Victorian Collection floors.
Tuscany Edge
The gorgeous vistas of Tuscany Hills, rolling with endless vineyards and olive gardens, gave us the primary inspiration for our Tuscany Edge.
During the renaissance era it was common for beautiful estates to commission famous Italian and French artists to decorate their walls with oil paintings full of rich colors that captured the period’s elegance for centuries to come.
Our wide plank flooring is enhanced with a daring, wavy, hand-crafted, four-sided bevel. This exclusive edge is quite unique and adds to the distinguished look of our spectacular hardwood flooring.
