Wood Character

There are many qualities that can influence the final appearance of hardwood flooring.  One of the first is to determine which wood character is best suited for your interior design concept.  We offer four wood character grades ranging from our a ultra clean looking Prime grade to our heavy character Rustic grade.

Rustic

Our French Oak Rustic is naturally distressed.  A wide range of color variations, frequent solid and filled brown knots up to 1-1/2” (40mm), end cracks up to 1-1/2” (40mm) and core are to be expected and provide a contrasting appearance for a casual but elegant look.  French Oak Rustic floor looks best hand-scraped and antiqued.

Plank Widths:  7” | 8-5/8” | 9-1/2” | 10-1/4” | 11-3/4”

Mixed Plank Lengths:  36” to 110-1/4” (average: 72”)

Fixed Long Lengths are available up to 118” (3.0m)

Rustic

Wide Plank French Oak Rustic Grade

Manoir

Our French Oak Nature will have consistent color tone and structure with some variations.  The occasional sound knots up to ½” (15mm) and filled brown knots up to 3/16” (5mm).  No splits, cracks, or sapwood will be present for a beautiful au naturel appearance.  French Oak Nature floor looks best wire-brushed and smooth.

Plank Widths:  7” | 8-5/8” | 9-1/2”

Mixed Plank Lengths:  36” to 94-1/2” (average: 66”)

Fixed Long Lengths are available up to 98.5” (2.5m)

Manoir

Our French Oak Manoir will have less pronounced color variation with some small end cracks up to ½” (15mm), sound knots and filled brown knots up to ¾” (20mm) as found in European vintage estates.  No core or sapwood will be present.  French Oak Manoir floor looks best hand-scraped and wire-brushed.

Plank Widths:  7” | 8-5/8” | 9-1/2” | 10-1/4” | 11-3/4”

Mixed Plank Lengths:  36” to 110-1/4” (average: 72”)

Fixed Long Lengths are available up to 118” (3.0m)

Wide Plank French Oak Manoir Grade

Nature

Our French Oak Nature will have consistent color tone with some variations.  The occasional sound knot and black knot.  No splits, cracks, or sapwood will be present for a natural appearance.  Our Nature grade looks best wire-brushed or smooth.

Available widths:  7” | 8-5/8”

Available lengths:  36” to 94-1/2”

Nature

Our French Oak Nature will have consistent color tone and structure with some variations.  The occasional sound knots up to ½” (15mm) and filled brown knots up to 3/16” (5mm).  No splits, cracks, or sapwood will be present for a beautiful au naturel appearance.  French Oak Nature floor looks best wire-brushed and smooth.

Mixed Plank Lengths:  36” to 94-1/2” (average: 66”)

Wide Plank French Oak Nature Grade

Prime

Our French Oak Prime will have consistent color tone and structure with no knots except for an occasional sound pinhole knot.  The wood will be free from splits, cracks and sapwood making it virtually spotless.  This is our highest clear grade available.  French Oak Prime floor looks luxurious and flawless in each and every textured finish we offer.

Mixed plank lengths:  36” to 94-1/2” (average: 66”)

Prime
